BORN FROM A NEED FOR MORE
As former swimmers and football players, training has always been a fundamental part of our lives. But as life got busier, we noticed a recurring problem: the friction of getting to the gym. We loved the results of professional cable machines, but at home, we were forced to choose between bulky, expensive equipment or flimsy resistance bands that lacked the "feel" and consistency required for true progression.
We asked ourselves: Why isn't there a professional-grade training solution that fits into a modern lifestyle? Why do we have to compromise on quality just because we aren't at a commercial gym? That was the spark that eventually became BOLDR.
THE SEARCH FOR PERFECT HARDWARE
Our journey took us through countless prototypes and technologies. We knew that traditional iron weights were too heavy to be portable, and hydraulic systems felt unnatural. When we discovered the potential of electromagnetic resistance, everything clicked. It allowed us to pack the power of a 30 kg weight stack into a device you can hold in your hand.
But finding the hardware was only half the battle. We quickly realized that to provide a truly premium experience, we couldn't rely on generic, off-the-shelf software. We needed an ecosystem that spoke the language of serious athletes.
DEVELOPING THE BOLDR SOUL IN MALMÖ
With our roots in Malmö, Sweden, and a background in app development, we decided to take the difficult path: building our own software from scratch. We wanted an app that didn't just control a motor, but one that acted as a digital training partner. We spent months mapping out over 150 exercises and building a tracking system that provides the data-driven insights we always wanted for our own training.
Every line of code and every design choice was made here in Sweden, with a focus on simplicity, precision, and durability.
